First date.... what happens next?

So I've liked this guy for a very (very) long time, and I've known him for a long time too, so we get along great, tease each other in cl, etc. So he asked me to the movies yesterday and i was pumped. I was wary about whether it was a date or not, but he opened the doors for me, paid for the movie, and drinks and stuff, It was really cute. And like during the funny parts in the movie, like when he laughed, he would look over at me. He did that a lot. He would move closer and then further away. I'll save you the suspense and say that there was no kiss, sadly. But when we were in the car, we hugged, and he said "we should do this again soon. maybe watch a different movie, maybe a scary one." So the fact that he said he wanted to hang out again is good right? There was no awkwardness, just joking and good times. Also, how can I hint that it wouldn't be totally out of line for him to kiss me? Cause I wouldn't mind a kiss. ;) Do you think there is relationship potential here?
