Why does Kurt Nilsen not want to be a global artist?

I heard Kurt at world idol, and for me he has one of the greatest male voices on the planet. However he only seems to perform in his home country of Norway when he could easily hit America or any other country. Afterall he proved he can do it when he beat Kelly Clarkson in World Idol.
