Sadie Hawkins Dance problem?

Alright so there is this guy at my school and I REALLY like him. I'm not sure if he likes me back but I still want to ask him to the upcoming Sadie Hawkin's Dance. But, the thing is that we dont talk very much. Probably cause we are both very shy. One of my friends had told me that he is extremeeeely shy around girls. However, the few times I have talked to him he has been sooo niice. And his smile is just to die for. I have actually caught him looking my way during cl, and as soon as I felt that weird sense of someone looking at me I turned and he quickly turned back. So basically I am wondering if I should still ask him to the dance, and if he likes me?
